World
Burn Congress The World Burn Congress is an annual international
conference that brings together burn survivors, their families, caregivers,
burn care professionals, and fire service personnel. The World Burn
Congress creates and environment where laughing, crying, sharing stories,
experiences, ideas and expertise are encouraged in a celebration of
life and healing.
SOAR:
Survivors Offering Assistance in Recovery program provides a structured
volunteer peer support training in the healthcare arena. A peer supporter
is someone who understands, who provides the "voice of experience"
and is a positive role model for burn patients and their families.
The SOAR
program makes it easier for hospital burn centers to offer peer support
for their patients by providing training for peer support volunteers
and health care team members.

news in the burn community, original works written by burn survivors,
and information on burn safety legislation.
Resource
Library The Phoenix Society holds a growing library of books, videos
and other audiovisual materials for burn survivors, caregivers, and
burn care professionals.
Advocacy
Often those affected by the pain of a burn injury or death find meaning
in their experience by becoming advocates for change. As a national
organization, The Phoenix Society's efforts are focused on policy development
and legislative measures that would have a permanent impact on decreasing
burn injuries or improving the care of those with burn injuries. We
disseminate information and educate our members so that they can become
active in promoting change.
